Objective: complete Assignment #3 (Master Plan) and to add 1-2 boards of design guidelines
Requirements for design guideline boards:
(Both short term and long term proposals must be covered)
(1) Short -term projects. Short-term projects are the ones that can be built in a relatively short time period (e.g., a few months - one year)
Please address and/or include detailed information on the following items.
Please add other items that deem necessary or critical to successful implementation of your proposals.
• Projects description
• Purpose of the projects
• Locations of proposed projects on the large community map
• Explain which project should be completed first or whether they can be implemented simultaneously
• Explain how short-term projects and long-term projects are aligned and coordinated with your overall master plan proposal
• Projects should be buildable by residents with simple guidance from Detroit Studio
• Information (i.e., specific instruction, manual) to build or implement the projects must be easy to understand, easy to follow, and userfriendly.
• Children should also be able to participate in the projects and should be able to understand the instruction with appropriate intervention & supervision by responsible adults.
• Both graphics (e.g., dwgs, diagrams, flow charts, 3d renderings, maps, etc.) and supplemental text are required. Your original graphics
count significantly.
• Graphics should also include clear and well put together production type drawings that residents can use to build your proposed projects.
• Guidelines should also include and/or address the following:
• Overall timeline/schedule for completion of the projects
• Sequence of tasks
• Participants and their tasks (who does what and when)
• Children and young people’s participation
• Material recommendation
• Rough cost estimate
• Financing/funding suggestions, if possible
• Address maintenance, safety, aesthetic issues
• Expected outcomes of the projects (e.g., teamwork skills, critical thinking ability, caring for each other, social support, sense of
ownership, sense of responsibility, math skills, sustainability, etc.)
(2) Long-term project. These projects may be buildable but will take many years and significant resources (e.g., fund, manpower, etc.) to implement.
Please address and/or include all necessary information on the following items.
Please add other items that deem necessary or critical to successful implementation of your proposals.
• Description of projects
• Goals of the projects
• Phasing ideas, overall timeline, sequence of benchmarking events
• Recommendation for key participants, their roles, who does what and when, etc.
• General implementation strategies and ideas
• Use graphics (e.g., dwgs, diagrams, flow charts, 3d renderings, maps, etc.) and supplemental text. Your original graphics count significantly.
• Explain how short-term projects and long-term projects are aligned and coordinated with your overall master plan proposal
